Happiness is the Total Surrender of Your Ego
Contribution by: Michael P Moffett
I thought this quote of mine would be most fitting for this page and for those who wish to make the inward journey from the former, the ego, to the latter, their precious soul.
“Happiness is the total surrender of your ego to the abundant fruits of your soul.”
Thank you Michael for your contribution, it reminds me of Jesus’ teaching that we need to lose ourself to find eternal life in Christ.
“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” – Luke 9:23-24

Happiness is a by Product of an Effort to Make Someone Else Happy
Need a reason to smile today? Then give someone else a reason to smile, and it will come right back to you. Even as Jesus said in the Bible, it is by giving that you will receive.
“Happiness is a by product of an effort to make someone else happy.” - Gretta Brooker Palmer, American Journalist
Everyone seeks happiness, however, many go through life being unhappy, discontent and even miserable. That’s because we have been trained by the world we live in to believe that happiness is based upon what we can get. And life oftentimes doesn’t deliver, and so our pursuit goes unfulfilled. But isn’t it our God-given right as Americans to pursue happiness? Well, yes, but it is not our right to acquire happiness regardless of how we pursue it. Selfish pursuit will not deliver.
The Bible tells us: “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” – Luke 6:38 KJV
So, if we want to obtain happiness, then we should be in the business of giving away happiness. Or in other words, if our desire is to bring happiness to those around us, then we will in turn become happy. And that makes today’s quote about happiness true: if we make the effort to make someone else happy, we will find happiness as a by product.
Have any of you tried this? Can you share your story of how you found happiness by making someone else happy?
