I recently came across this “heart” quote.
“Always Follow Your Heart, It’s Never Wrong”
Is it in the Bible or Not?
If so, where?
If not, is it Biblical or Not.
I think one of the later books in the NT says even when our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart. (paraphrased) certainly it’s not in the Bible as written… but I’d say that since the scriptures teach us that we are basically evil, our heart’s desires will drive us away from God. If we turn our hearts to the Lord, however, He will lead us to paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake.
I recall a Bible verse that syas the ways of man are the ways of death, but the ways of God are the ways of life. Our hearts are not always right, BUT, if we believe, trust and rely on the Lord, then He will guide our hearts.
Jeremiah 17:9 (NIV)
9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
Lesson here is NEVER follow our heart instead follow the word of God. For God is truth.
Gen 8:21 for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth.
I would say that pretty much means our hearts tend to be evil not good. So is your heart ever wrong? I would say yes many times
Matthew 15:19 “For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.” It couldn’t get any clearer than this could it?
Ha! Yes indeed, if you follow your fleshly heart you could definitely be wrong. Clear as a bell.
